Time for a QUIZ!

O.k., since class was cancelled last week, things got a little behind. Since I mentioned on the blog that I would allow the quiz to be open-book, I will keep to my word. However, since you've been studying (you HAVE been studying, RIGHT?) and it is an open-book quiz, it shouldn't take you very long. So, for the first 20-25 minutes of class, you'll be taking the quiz on Chapter 3 - Information Architecture - of the Web Style Guide online.

After that, we're going to look at the wireframes you did for homework for imdb.com and discuss them. We'll be doing another wireframe this week, but we will make this one a little more advanced. I will require you to include text in this one. You will type out your: navigation, subject headers, footers, body copy, etc. You will still only use boxes for image content.

Basically, I want this next wireframe you do to show me almost exactly what your web site design will look like, only without images. Now, the fun part is, I will allow you to redesign a single page from ANY website you choose (as long as it is PG rated.) OR, you may completely make up a fictitious site and wireframe a single page from your imagination. Keep in mind that you will need to write body copy, headlines and have navigation for this wireframe!

You will have the rest of class time to work on this new wireframe and it will be due when you show up to class on Wednesday! Take advantage of lab hours if you don't finish this one in class! I would like this wireframe to be built on the computer, sized to 8.5 x 11 page and saved as a .pdf file to turn in on Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:
• Design a wireframe for a single page of any existing or fictitious website.
• Use the computer to create your wireframe - no hand-drawn wireframes allowed.
• Use text to show your navigation, headlines, body copy and footer information.
• No images allowed! Use only boxes to indicate where graphics or photos would go.
• Make your wireframe fit on a standard 8.5 x 11 page
• Save your file as a .pdf to turn in. Name your file like this: lastname_wireframe.pdf
